Thomas Rowlandson
(1756 - 1827) and Thomas Malton (1748 - 1804)

A SUDDEN SQUALL IN HYDE PARK. 1791. Grego Vol. I, pg. 302-304; B. M. Satires 8277. Hand-colored etching and aquatint, 332 x 461 mm (13.1 x 18.1"), trimmed to the image and laid down to a stiff backing paper with decorative ink and wash borders. A fine working proof, before the aquatint was extended to the clouds, rain, and rooftops, etc. Pale scattered foxing. The finished print was drawn and etched by Thomas Rowlandson, aquatint by T. Malton, published Aug. 12, 1791 by S. W. Fores, N3 Picadilly.

According to Grego, the man on horseback is the Prince of Wales, and the man driving the phaeton is Lord Barrymore.
