in Glass Vases, with the full etched signature, but before
the borderline, engraved signature and Poillys address.
Etching in the style of engraving, 283 x 217 mm (11 1/8 x
8 9/16) plus margins. Extremely fine, early impression.
Soft fold across upper right corner, short tears into margin
edges.
Baptiste Monnoyer le vieux, as he was known, was a brilliant
painter of flowers and fruit and an etcher who made a number
of plates of vases of flowers. His work decorated the principal
royal palaces in France, and after his move to England in
1685 he worked for Queen Mary II and for Queen Anne.
