THE ADORATION OF THE MAGI WITH TORCHES, after Peter Paul Rubens (1577 - 1640). 1620. LeBlanc 1i (of ii); Hollstein 1i (of ii). Engraving, 610 x 452 mm (24 x 17.8”), trimmed outside the image on three sides and below the text at bottom. A fine impression of the first state of two, before the address of Blooteling. In generally good condition except for a few tiny invisible repairs in the lower text area,
and skillfull repairs to the upper left corner and one edge tear.

After the painting by Rubens in the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts, Brussels. A modello is in The Hermitage, St. Petersburg. Rubens himself chose the engravers to reproduce his paintings and oversaw their work with stringent standards.
