Rajput, Mewar, ca. 1650

MAIDS PREPARE A CONSORT FOR THE ARRIVAL OF HER LOVER. From a set of the Kavikapriya by the poet Keshav Das. Gouache on paper, 8 1/4 x 6 1/2" plus yellow and red borders.

Indian Miniature Paintings from West Coast Collections. 1964. Plate IV (from the same series is item 30) Items 29-32. (not including the current miniature) Mid-17th century. Three loaned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Page. Another from John Yeon. Each c. 8" x 7" from an album of the Kavi Priya of Keshav Das. Others from this album are in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Royal Scottish Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, etc.

Binney: Rajput Miniatures. 1968. Item 5 Krishna dismissed (illustrated).  c. 1635-45. Other leaves from this Kavi Priya are in the collections of Leland C. Wyman, Charles Page, John Leon, and others.
